Egg™ Footstool

Designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen

Form follows function, and nowhere is that more apparent than in a sculpted footstool that anticipates the curves of the human body. Arne Jacobsen designed the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and for its busy lobby, he created the biomorphic Egg Chair and Footstool (1958). With this collection, Jacobsen embraced new materials that allowed him to shape fluid curves and single-piece molded shells. At a time when others were experimenting with bent tubular steel, Jacobsen focused on the upholstered armchair, believing a solution existed that was still true to modern ideals. Indeed, he met that goal. The Egg Footstool has a comfortable curved shape that cradles your legs and feet. It can be used with the Egg Chair or Swan Chair, both by Arne Jacobsen. This is the authentic Egg Footstool manufactured by Republic of Fritz Hansen. Made in Poland.

  • Finely upholstered, the fabric or leather is hand-sewn onto the frame.
